The Sex Myth: A Devised Play is a deeply personal, startlingly moving production. " |
In the spring of 2016, I applied for and was awarded $3,000 from the Northeastern University Advanced Research/Creative Endeavor Provost’s Award and $1,000 from the Boston Opportunity Fund in the fall. With the grants, I produced, directed, and performed in the piece. We workshopped monologues that were true to our experiences and created vignettes of different stigmas around sex and college hook up culture. We performed in site-specific locations on the Northeastern campus like dorm common rooms, classrooms, and the Curry Student Center.
Upon graduation, I received the College of Arts, Media, and Design Award for Creative Excellence for my work on The Sex Myth. In February 2017, Rachel published my playbook guide for other activists and artists. I went on to direct a sold-out run of it in August 2017 at the HERE Arts Center in New York. |
